What is Aston Garshield?

Aston Garshield is a unique blend of food grade aqueous extracts of garlic with natural plant derived additives to make a prophylactic that helps to prevent fungal disease and attack from pests. It contains selenium and over 30 sulphur based plant nutrients that will stimulate plant growth; allicin in particular has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Its high levels of bioflavonoids and ascorbic acid, exhibit anti-bacterial, fungistatic and fungicidal properties therefore complementing the properties of the garlic perfectly. These extracts act synergistically, delivering results.

Garshield is a high quality natural product, being water-based, standardised, concentrated and biodegradable. Having both contact and systemic action, a prophylactic.

Research at the University of Arkansas USA showed that a garlic solution of 10% (v/v) inhibited mycelial growth of Pythium spp., Phytophthora spp., Rhizoctonia spp., Fusarium spp. And Verticillium spp. proving to be fungistatic in viticulture.

Research has also shown garlic's antifungal activity against Botrytis cinerea, Alternaria brassisicola and numerous other pathogenic fungi.

Regular use of Garshield will assist crops to produce good clean healthy root systems and resist most of the common fungal diseases. It also aids  plants’ natural resistance to pests.

When Garshield is used regularly in a programme of treatments it will stimulate growth and give healthy, vigorous plants much more resistant to bacterial and fungal diseases which leads to a much reduced reliance on conventional pesticides with benefits of a reduction or elimination of pesticide residues in the resultant food, including tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce as well as field crops. It also acts as a foliar or root feed.

How to use Aston Garshield

Use Regulary

For optimal results use Garshield regularly every 7-10 days. Garshield is often used in a programme with Anthyllis suitable for use in glasshouse and field crops. It is rain fast in one hour in summer and two hours in winter. Ideally apply late afternoon when plants are more receptive.

Spray or Irrigation

Dilute 1:100 in water and apply as a fine spray covering all parts of the plant. Garshield can also be applied through irrigation or ULV systems. During use the characteristic smell of garlic will be evident; however, treated areas and plants will soon become odourless.
